Cooking Together for our health and for our planet

Plant CookeryMany of us grew up eating meat every day but evidence now shows that eating less meat and dairy food is better both for our own health and for our planet. The United Nations states that, “our food systems generate one-third of global greenhouse gas emissions” and encourages us to eat more plant-based foods to reduce our individual carbon footprint and impact on the Earth.

Changing our diet can be difficult which is why Climate Action Frodsham (CAF), together with Fresh Beginnings, a local community interest company, have been offering plant-based cooking sessions to the public for over a year at Main Street Community Church on Saturday mornings.
Cooking together has proven to be enjoyable and people of all ages and cooking experience have attended alone or with a friend or family member. They cook in small teams, led by an experienced chef, or tutor, from Fresh Beginnings which adds to the fun and they then take home some cooked food, plant-based recipes and various useful meal tips.
Some sessions this year have been subsidised by Councillor Mike Garvey and by Frodsham, Helsby & Elton Together. Climate Action Frodsham is grateful for their support.
