The Charter was offered for sale recently by auction. Frodsham Town Council registered to bid in the auction 25th-26th November in order to bring the market under local stewardship. However, the auction house informed them on the 24th November that the current owners would not allow the council to take part in the bidding. The Charter was sold to an as-yet unidentified purchaser.
